Why Purge?
When welding stainless steel, titanium and other corrosion-resistant materials, correct weld purging is essential. Without it, the back of the weld is exposed to oxygen while under heat, which causes oxidation and can reduce the corrosion-resistant properties of the material.
A proper purge creates a low-oxygen environment inside the pipe so the weld root can form cleanly. This helps produce a brighter, cleaner weld, improves consistency and supports the strength and corrosion resistance of the finished weld.
The quality of the weld depends on using the right pipe purging system and controlling oxygen levels throughout the process. Effective purging helps minimise oxidation, reduce rework and achieve a higher-quality finish on critical welding applications
